How To Clean Basketball Hats

How to clean basketball hats. If the tag says hand wash only do not wash it in the dishwasher. Before you clean a baseball hat in the dishwasher check the care tag inside of the hat to make sure it s made from a durable material like cotton or synthetics. Add 1 tablespoon 15 ml of laundry detergent or dish soap then dip your hat in the water. Use a clean toothbrush to spot clean any stains. For stubborn sweat stains apply a little shampoo to the stains and scrub it in with the toothbrush.

To wash a baseball cap by hand first fill a sink or bucket with warm water. As it s filling add a tablespoon of laundry detergent or oxiclean. Allow the band to dry completely before flipping it back inside the hat. A soft brush can be used to apply the mixture to the band and then use a damp white cloth to blot the band clean. Err on the side of cool versus hot.

Place the hat on a clean towel and pat it down until there is no more water dripping. You can also softly scrub the stain with a clean white cloth and your fingers if you re afraid a brush will be too abrasive. Dish soap can do in a pinch but detergent or a dedicated stain fighting treatment like oxiclean is stronger and works harder at getting the stains out of the hat s fibers. For a wool hat add a cap full of woolite to a gallon of cool or cold water. It s very important not to leave it in the sun as this may make the stains permanent.

If your baseball cap has stains on it and you want to get rid of them you can try removing them with a mixture of water washing up liquid and ammonia. Otherwise place the hat on the top rack of your empty dishwasher propping it on the prongs to protect its shape. This method is similar to cleaning shoes and will just require a brush and some laundry detergent. Fill a clean sink or bucket with warm water. Using a toothbrush scrub the stains and then leave the cap to dry in the shade.

If the band is leather be sure to use a leather cleaner on it. If the sweatband is fabric clean it occasionally with a mixture of a mild soap and water. Dip a soft bristle dish brush or toothbrush in the water mixture and gently apply to the spots that need attention.
