How To Clean Knit Hats

After you remove the hat place the hat on the pump mold and spritz it with a gentle mist of cleaning spray then gently comb the brim and cap of the hat with the cleaning brush to keep it looking nice.
How to clean knit hats. If you re still nervous about washing your beanie take it to the dry. If the hat is extra dirty drain the sink and repeat the washing process. Let it soak for about 5 minutes. Lay it out flat on a towel and arrange it in its original shape. 4 spray with shaping spray.
Heat may cause your hat to shrink. Let the water run over the entire surface of the hat both inside and outside to rinse all of the detergent and dirty water off of the hat. Start the washing machine on a cold cycle and allow it to fill at least halfway with water before adding your knit hat. Submerge the cap and allow to soak for 5 to 10 minutes. Spot clean the hat first as needed.
Rinse the hat for two or three minutes. You can speed the process up by running an electric fan nearby on low power but do not use a hot blow dryer. Allow the hat to air dry. Place the hat on a thick cotton towel and blot away as much moisture as possible. After first dipping the hat in the water of your bucket or sink use a toothbrush or other small scrubber to rub the cleaner into the fabric.
Use the cleaning brush each time you wear the hat. Take the hat to the faucet and turn on the cold water. If there are areas that are especially problematic spot clean them with a dab of cleaning product right on the hat. Run the washing machine on the spin only cycle and then remove the knit hat. For wool fibers choose a detergent formula developed just for wool that contains lanolin such as eucalan.
Place the knit hat in a location with good air circulation. Knit or crocheted hats that are made from natural fibers like wool or cotton or flax or from a blended yarn of the fibers should be handwashed in cool water. Submerge your hat and gently squeeze it repeatedly to absorb and release the water. Allow the hat to air dry on a ventilated rack so air can circulate away from direct heat or sunlight. Swish the hat around do not wring and then rinse well until no suds are seen.
