For more stubborn stains sprinkle cornstarch baking soda or baby powder directly onto the soiled areas and mildly rub it in. Use it on the inside and outside of the hat. This will also loosen any pills on the hat making them easier to remove. Align the arrow on the lint brush with the direction of the nap and brush the hat in short quick strokes. Once a week use a wet hand wipe to spot treat stains. Then use an old toothbrush to gently scrub out stains. A little elbow grease can clean a hat by hand just as well as a washing machine.
