How to create breakout rooms in zoom before the meeting. To setup a breakout room session start a zoom meeting and click the breakout rooms a icon. If you don t see it your window is probably too small. Open up the zoom application on your mac or pc and log in. Click meetings and schedule a meeting. Select either new meeting or schedule to schedule an upcoming meeting. Make the window bigger or find breakout rooms by clicking the more button. Hover over the default breakout room name and click the pencil icon to rename it. Navigate to the breakout room option on the meeting tab and verify that the setting is enabled. When the meeting starts click breakout rooms at the bottom of the screen.

If you do not see this button check under more three dots. In the meeting options section select breakout room pre assign and click create rooms. The host cannot create nor manage breakout room using the zoom mobile app. Sign in to the zoom web portal as an administrator with the privilege to edit account settings. You will see a pop out where you can create rooms and control participants in each breakout room.

Choose which participants you would like in each room. However participants can join breakout rooms using the zoom mobile app. Your participants will receive a pop up notification within the meeting when the host opens up breakout rooms. Using the zoom program on your computer create a new meeting. Select the number of rooms you would like to create and how you would like to assign your participants to those rooms.

The host will need to be using the zoom desktop app to create and manage breakout rooms. Click the plus icon beside rooms to add breakout rooms. In the navigation menu click account management then account settings. User can also create and pre assign users before the meeting. Start an instant or scheduled meeting.
