How to read stocks. Reading stock charts or stock quotes is a crucial skill in being able to understand how a stock is performing what is happening in the broader market and how that stock is projected to perform. One of the most popular charting types incorporates stock quote data by highlighting the open high low and close. This is the price of the stock for the last trade of the previous day. This column gives you the lowest price that particular stock has reached in the most recent 52 week period. To properly read stocks you must first understand what each column in the stock chart means.
