How To Clean Sterling Silver Necklace With Toothpaste

A small amount of diluted toothpaste and a soft bristle brush can do wonders for cleaning sterling silver jewelry.
How to clean sterling silver necklace with toothpaste. Commercial toothpaste contains a form of silica that reacts with the silver chemically to remove stains. Glass cleaners like windex can also be used to clean silver. If you are too hesitant to do this you can also dip the jewelry in a bowl of warm water and rub the toothpaste residue off. Again do not scrub using sturdy scrubbers or toothpastes. Rub it lightly with the moistened fabric until it is polished.
Spray some glass cleaner directly onto a soft cloth or soft bristled toothbrush. Give glass cleaner a try. Rinse the jewelry in warm water. The best way to do this is to plug your sink and rinse the jewelry under running water. Test this option on a hard to see spot first to avoid scratching your jewelry.
Within a minute the tarnish will start to disappear. Using too much or too abrasive a formula might. Rinse the silver in warm water a few times to check your progress. Then once you have scrubbed all the silver rinse it off under warm water and pat dry. Use the cloth to clean the silver and then either rinse the piece under warm water or wipe off the excess cleaner with a damp cloth.
If your jewelry is more tarnished you may need to get actual jewelry polish to clean the necklace. Using toothpaste for sterling silver. With a soft cotton pad cloth or a toothbrush rub a little paste all over and wipe it thoroughly. Don t forget that a little goes a long way.
